My Chosen Shot - Front Cover
At first I was going to use the image in my flat plan. This would of been a mid-close up shot of my artist looking straight at my camera. The reason behind choosing this picture in the first place was because it was a standard shot used in most magazine from covers and I liked the way that she was standing. to me it shows she was very self-assured. But the only thing I didn't like was her facial expression. I would of preferred it to be more serious. When I came across the shot in the middle, I liked how different it was to most shots I had seen and wanted to use it. The only problem was that it was a bad quality image and if I wanted to use it, I knew that I would have to re do it. So I did and that image is one the right.
Final Shots Taken/Mise-en-Scene
When it came to my final shot and the one I was planning on using the one on my flat plan. But when I was doing test shots, I came across a picture that I really like and wanted to work with. It features my artist sitting down, with her hand on her chin, looking at or away from the camera. Even though, it wasn't influenced by any research that I did, I found the pose has a lot of attitude and confidence, it gives the idea that the model is strong and proud. That to me is really important when it comes to portraying my artist on the magazine, I wanted her aura to be quite sassy. I had to recreate the image as the one I took in the test shots was had a low quality, so bad that it would of been difficult to work with.
Here are me recreating that shot.
When it comes to the mise-en-scene of the shot, I wanted to stick to the flat plan. She is wearing a crop jumper with the word "hype" on it. Also she is wearing ripped jeans, The rip will help convey her story of breaking through struggle and how she is a breakthrough artist. She is also wearing big hoop earrings as they are a common urban jewellery and add detail her outfit. In addition she is wearing a necklace with the Albania flag as that is wear my artist is from. Her hair is out and is curly and she is wearing minimal makeup to show she is still young and doesn't want to cover up or mask herself

Flat Plan Feedback
For my flat plan feedback I have asked a few of my friends to comment on my drafts for my music magazine. Here are some of their responses.
Rachel Dennis:
Front Cover: I love the image that you have used. The mid close shot is perfect as it shows facial expression. Her face shows a lot of attitude and that really suits your genre of music.
Contents page: I like the layout. It reminds m of the magazine I look that which is a good things as it shows how realistic your one is.
Double spread page: The big A gives it a very professional feel. But to improve I think you should have a quote written somewhere, just above her head or something. That will help make the interview appear more interesting and make the page feel less empty.
Sahra Ibrahim:
Front Cover: The masthead is written in big writing making it easy to see and notice. I feel like there is a lot going on in the front cover which makes the picture get lost a little bit.
Contents page: The number of pictures are perfect. Having 3 would of left little space for features.
Double spread page: The fact that the colour scheme is going to match is good at the pages will feel like a proper magazine. I like the three columns. It lets you write a long and interesting interview.
Huda Khan:
Front Cover: The actual drawing isn't that good, you could of made it more detailed but I can see the main features well. its good that you linked the necklace to he pull quote. it gives the magazine a very real touch.
Contents page: The top tracks section is creative. It adds excitement to what can be a very boring page.
Double spread page: I get you are going for a set colour scheme but it would be nice to have a pop of colour.
Petra B:
Front Cover: The artists name and story should be more separate from the other cover lines.
Contents page: Looks great. Maybe have less features.
Double spread page: I like that the text goes on 2 pages, it make it less structured which connects with a pop genre
